After reading the first few chapters (The chapters are very short) of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" I wondered how anyone could be interested in such pompous, egotistical, aloof and self serving characters?After reading on I said, "Wow! How could I be so interested in such characters?"Getting toward the middle of the book, I was hoping that it would never end.By the end of the book, I fully realized what a magnificent piece of writing I had just read."Pride and Prejudice" is one of the best sociological studies about early nineteen century British loyalty and society I have ever read - where title, rank, fortune, and good looks are in many ways the requirements of an approved marriage, much, much more than love. In fact, this wonderful book might not be as relevant today as two hundred years ago, but there are still many traces of such societies throughout the world, today. It was not all that long ago in America, where marrying outside of your religion, or ethnicity, was looked down upon.The book is full of wonderful characters, but Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennet is, in my opinion, the star. Her character is so wonderfully and fully realized that at times I felt her jumping off the page and directly into my life.Liza, a fellow member and friend on Goodreads, informed me that she had read the book twice and still was not sure if the ending was 'sad' or 'funny.' To me, it was funny and exceptionally rewarding but sad to think that a lady's livelihood depended more on the wealth and rank of your partner than love.Quite an amazing book.

There must be many thousands of digital versions of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I got this because I wanted to compare it with another that I had, and didn't realize until it was on my kindle that the name of the author on the cover page is incorrect!! The author is NOT Charlotte Bronte!!!!! This is so inexplicable and appalling a mistake, I had to write and mention it so that it can (hopefully) be corrected. The rest of the text is fine. I don't want it on my kindle, and have deleted it. How anyone could have confused Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte (author of Jane Eyre) is beyond me.

This book is just gorgeous! I already own a few copies of Pride and Prejudice so I didn't need another but this was too cute to pass up. It's a generous size, the colors are bold and bright and the illustrations are whimsical and fun. A great gift for any jane Austen fan, even if she already owns a few copies ;)

"Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen started off annoying me and ended up enchanting me. Up until about page one hundred I found this book vexing, frivolous and down right tedious. I now count myself as a convert to the Austen cult.I must confess I have been known to express an antipathy for anything written or set before 1900. I just cannot get down with corsets, outdoor plumbing and buggy rides. Whenever someone dips a quill into an inkwell my eyes glaze over. This is a shortcoming I readily own up to but have no desire to correct. So I admit to not starting this book with the highest of hopes. I did really enjoy Ang Lee's "Sense and Sensibility" however and so when my friend threw the gauntlet down I dutifully picked it up.Boy did I hate him at first. To get anywhere with this book one has to immerse oneself in the realities of life and marriage in the nineteenth century. At first all this talk of entailment and manners just left me cold. I liked the language to be sure. Austen's dialogue is delightful through out but dialogue alone (no matter how delicious) does not a great novel make.A hundred pages or so in though I started to see what a shrewd eye for character this Austen woman had. Mr. Collins was the first person I marvelled at. His character springs forth fully formed as a total but somehow loveable ass. From that point on I found much to love about this book. I was so into it by the end that I was laughing at some characters, sympathizing with others and clucking my tongue at an unhappy few. In short I was completely absorbed.In conclusion I must now count myself a fan of Miss Austen's novels (and not just their fim adaptations) and do so look forward to acqauinting myself with more of her work in the future. "Emma" anyone?

The print edition of this book is awful. It's an awkward size so line lengths are too long to read comfortably. It is evident that basically no work was put into laying out the text of the book: line spacing is too close, there's no page breaks before chapters, chapter headings are the same typeface as the surrounding text. Typography is general is very poor: quotation marks that should be “curly” are instead "straight", for example. This book looks like someone just copy-pasted the raw text of the book, slapped a cover on it and called it a day. Zero effort went into making this. Do not buy this.

He tries to pad his evaluation with some faint praise ("You, uh, hold your trumpet very well"), but eventually he lays out the truth. Thankfully, Piggie is not mad. Gerald has merely misunderstood: she wasn't trying to make music, she was trying to "speak Elephant." This may be one of the lesser entries in the series, but the bar is so high that this remains irrepressibly fun. And who can resist that double-page spread in the middle filled with Piggie's playing? The punchline strikes a beautiful note even if Piggie doesn't, as Willems manages yet again to pull off the perfect dual audience move: Gerald's adult-like misunderstanding of Piggie's intentions and the revelation of Piggie's actual motive will ring true to youngsters and will elicit surprised and delighted eeps from older reading partners at the unaffected sweetness of childlike empathy and friendship. The consistency of the color-coded sound bubbles and the clear depiction of emotional states, conveyed through comic exaggeration of the deceptively simple figure drawings, will help even the newest readers track the narrative line as they practice their emergent literacy skills. This installment in the Mo Willems "Piggie and Elephant" franchise, "Listen to My Trumpet", has Piggie wowing Gerald with her new trumpet. Gerald listens. Gerald winces. Sadly, she's no Satchmo. Gerald tries to think of nice things to say that will not hurt Piggies feelings:1. it's "shiny"2. it's "loud"3. Piggie "holds it well"But of course much as she likes hearing that stuff -- that is not enough for Piggie. She wants more -- she wants to know what he REALLY thinks! And Gerald, being a great friend, conscientiously decides he should tell her the truth -- albeit as gently as possible.It has a fun twist at the end, and once again shows children though the charming relationship between these two best friends, exactly what being a true friend is all about -- honesty, love, trust, compassion and concern.

Elephant struggles and shows us how to be both honest and tactful when Piggy plays the trumpet. Just as good as "The Honest to Goodness Truth", but appropriate for younger children, maybe ages 3-4. Older children will also appreciate, especially if the story is read with a lot of drama and exaggeration.

My grandchildren really like these books. The author is well known and I can see why he has been so popular. His books are funny and easy to read for their age recommendation. I have bought several and will continue.

My 4 year old has really gotten into Mo Willems' work lately, and loves Piggie and Elephant (as well as Pigeon and Duckling)! This book is fun and silly, and allows for lots of loud, crazy noises coming out of Mom or Dad's mouth when we read this aloud. And this should DEFINITELY be read aloud. Have fun and play with the kiddos with this one!

ALL of the Elephant and Piggie books are the best. I have almost all of them. They're great for beginning readers too. My kindergarten and first grade students love hearing them over and over then reading them on their own or to their friends. Also, if you haven't read The Pigeon books, GET THOSE TOO!

New addition for our Gerald and Piggy books collection. Great short tales for night time storytelling and to help your children to start reading.

I have bought all the Elephant & Piggie books for my two boys. The characters of Elephant and Piggie are so fun. We love to read them at bed time. My 6yr old son can read through the books by himself.

Really love all of these books. This one on particular really helps to teach understanding & promote communication. Highly recommended.

This is one of those "junk" ebooks, by an author who doesn't really know what he/she is doing. Translation errors, bad grammar, some missing measurements, ingredients not used in the instructions, instructions calling for things not in the ingredient list. There are more problems, and a quick read-through tells any experienced cook/baker that the author copy/pasted and threw this thing together. But it's worse than that, there is some very erroneous information that would mislead the beginning cook. So, even as a free book, this is worthless.

There is a wide variety of pizza recipes, including extra meaty and vegetarian ones. I found the recipes easy to follow. Jennifer gives substitutes to make some of them healthier.

Great book for different experiments in homemade pizza baking! Definitely try some new recipes.

Didn’t read past the vulgar language. Decided to delete the book. One wouldn’t expect to be dumped on reading about pizza.

I think pizza is one of the most popular dishes in the world, and really a national dish in Italy, together with pasta. My children cant imagine our weekend without a pizza. In order to make a delicious pizza at home you need a good pizza dough recipe and a pizza filling recipe. And you'll find more than fifty pizza recipes in that amazing artisan pizza cookbook with photos. I hope I’ll try them soon.

Vegetable Pizza, 6. Cheese Pizza, 7. Seafood Pizza, 8. Healthy Pizza.I like this cookbook for simple structure and easy-to-follow instructions. We cook pizza once a week and my kids are totally excited!

I’ve been making pizza at home for 10 years. I’ve taken some of Jennifer’s ideas concerning the process of making pizza dough and the sauce that I top it with. The book covers regional pizzas here in the US and Italy. I cooked the pepperoni pizza and it was delicious. I reduced the cooking time for the vegetable pizza and the crust was the best I’ve ever made. I highly recommend this book if you want to make great pizza.
