This was a great little guide! I purchased because I'll be in MX for a couple of nights on my own before joining friends for another couple of nights in Isla Mujeres. I'm flying into CUN but Cancun itself doesn't interest me all that much. Based on the information in this book I'll probably spend the first night in Valladolid, check out Chichen Itza and the local Cenote, then bus it back to Cancun for night #2 to meet my friends on their redeye flight the next morning. Or, I could go to Tulum for night #1... Hmmm... this little guide will be very handy for figuring out all my options, and I feel confident that I'll know of places to get good basic cheap accommodation and how to avoid Americanized food. Bring on the spice!

This is a very interesting little guide, very concise, and packed with useful information. Although we will not be following the author's itinerary exactly, the facts provided are exactly what we were looking for to plan our trip to the Riviera Maya. As budget travelers, we appreciate the details regarding public transportation, places to eat and stay, as well as low-cost or free places to visit. It reinforces all the other information we have been able to find on the internet to plan our trip, and introduces us to some places we would not have found on our own.

I loved the detail that covers several interesting things things on the itinerary. It's helped a lot with planning, especially how to get where you want even without a car. We plan to have this guide during our upcoming trip, and look forward to it.The guide is broken out by destinations, giving compelling reasons for going without blowing smoke and gushing how WONDERFUL everything is! The guide is more realistic, and accommodates active travelers, beach-lovers, ruin aficionados and families with kids.Highly recommended itinerary guide. Handy guide with lots of information for tourists wanting to visit the ruins. It even provides help to those without rental cars on how to travel within the Yucatan Peninsula.

I travel a lot and read MANY guidebooks when deciding what to see and do. This is one of the best - really practical advice that gave me the confidence to explore the Yucatan. The local restaurants that the author recommended, while sometimes simple or spartan in appearance, offered far better food than we got at the pricey tourist locations. We missed a few things (Tulum!!), so we will definitely return and use this guide again to plan our trip.

Abraham Joshua Heschel (1907-1972) was a preeminent scholar, acclaimed spiritual writer, and prophetic activist. He was a professor of ethics and mysticism at Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City.Gordon Tucker is senior rabbi of Temple Israel Center in White Plains, NY, and adjunct assistant professor of Jewish philosophy at Jewish Theological Center, New York. The original "Torah min Hashamayim b'Aspaklaria shel Hadorot" was a Heschel masterpiece; its style of writing was, for lack of a better term, "high-rabbinic-esoteric", and its accessability was therefor somewhat limited. The translator's notes point out many of Heschel's literary tricks which would otherwise be lost to the English reader. Other on-the-page annotations provide excellent background into issues and ideas which Heschel relies upon after assuming that the reader is highly literate in rabbinic scholarship at the "rosh-yeshivah" level. To those who have not yet reached such level, this work is a wonderful addition to a library of basic rabbinic thought. As a scholarly work it proves that Heschel was first and foremost a great rabbi.

Another great work from Heschel! Such knowledge and thought combined into one study is awesome. It is about the two main intellectual approaches taken in order to determine the true meaning of the words and sentences in the Hebrew bible.A lengthy and indepth study which must be studied over and over in order to obtain a true understanding of what is being stated.This is one of those rare works that makes religious belief into a living science rather than a mystical tale. A must read !

Worth the investment in time and energy

Amazing Author am now at 58 reading all of his work I can get my hands on.I am not one usually drawn to existential writing but Heschel is the exception.Without being into existential babble I will say the Book Moral grandeur Spiritual audacity is one of the greatest works of moral and jewish thought I have ever read.You can really see and feel one the greatest minds of this century in reading this compilation of his speaches and writings.After that I felt ready to delve deeper into this is Torah and Jewish law and philosophy experiment.
