This is one of her best illustrated books and the jacket of the book is outstanding. I gave a copy to my neighbors for their son and they raved about the illustrations and the color and the jacket with its colors and raised title.
The human faces are not the most appealing but the flora and fauna, the landscapes and rooms, are just wonderful. Great choice for animal and art loving children, and a few adults...
This book is so beautiful and the story is so lovely. If you’re a Jan Brett fan, you want this book! If you’re an animal lover or a gardner, you’ll love this book! If you love great illustrations you’ll love this book! I love it for all those reasons and more. It’s so cute and sweet.
Wonderful story for nature lovers...especially young nature lovers (like mine) that always want to capture creatures for keeps! I bought this book as a teaching lesson about empathy for our critter friends.As always, J. Brett books are wonderful!! Her illustrations are as beautiful/whimsical as her stories are charming.
Great art!Story is wonderful for boys and girls. It's a natural science book with a bit of a love story. My husband adores this book. :-)
Jan Brett does such a wonderful job of illustrating her books. I love the fine details of each drawing. There is so MUCH to take in on each and every page. The drawings at the side borders are a recap and foretelling. The pictures at the top, of the other sights that could be found in the museum, were spectacular as well.This story did not grab me as much as some of her other stories, but the drawings were great, and my kindergarten granddaughter loved it.As a companion book, I chose a National Geographic book about sea turtles.
I have always loved Jan Brett books. Her stories have a nice lesson to be learned about being kind and the illustrations are beautiful. I love nature, especially wildflowers and I thought I could use it to help me with my own painting. I bought one for my niece and loved it so much I bought one for myself. The lesson teaches children the importance of letting animals stay in their own habitat. I highly recommend it.
Brett's illustrations are always beautiful and we appreciated the message about not turning wild animals into pets - as the story demonstrates, wild creatures prefer the beautiful, spacious outdoors to any cage we can build them. The story was a little predictable for adults, but it's an important message for young people to learn.
